Chris Applegate

Chris served seven years in prison and came home four years ago to a reentry system that offers little beyond a trash bag of belongings and a bus ticket. He founded Camp Kedesh, Inc. to change that — building transitional housing rooted in dignity rather than a revolving door. He also founded Restoration Kentucky, which drives the policy work behind Camp kedesh’s boots-on-the-ground model, and serves as Managing Member of Effective Assistants of Counsel, LLC, providing paralegal services to Kentucky attorneys.

Jim Peterson

Jim is a dedicated advocate for criminal justice reform through his nonprofit, REimagine Justice Inc., which works to educate the public about mass incarceration. He mentors incarcerated individuals through The Prisoner’s Hope and is a member of ACLU Smart Justice Advocates. His family’s own experience with the justice system — including a cousin’s 17-year incarceration before a gubernatorial pardon — shapes his commitment to this work. Jim spent 44 years as an architect and homebuilder in Louisville, Kentucky.
